About 150 years ago, during the Meiji period, with the help of a superior Japanese painters in the Kyoto painting tradition, a new and unique Obi-material was born in Kyoto Nishijin.
Seiji Takahashi discovered a design collection from that era and a warehouse storing cloth for traditional Obi, and that triggered him to launch his own company, seisuke88.
As a third generation heir to a dyeing and finishing factory, Takahashi was creating new treatments and textures daily. He had a strong desire to deliver his new discovery directly to customers, so he launched the new brand in 2003, just a half year after he had discovered this unique design.
Seisuke88 inherited those traditional Japanese design patterns, then revived them as contemporary fashion. Seisuke88 is a factory brand of Kyoto, and is unique in managing the full range of planning, production and sales.
